Unique Gifts For Kids
I have a little girl who will be turning five next month. Now I could go with the easy gifts, and just grab her some Barbies, however, I’d like to think of some unique gifts, that she will remember, and still play with for more than a week after her birthday.
Here’s some unique gift ideas for your preschooler.
Memberships:
A great gift that will last all year is a membership, whether it’s to the zoo or a science museum, or even your local botanical gardens. Memberships give you a big bang for your buck, and provide so the gift of you and your child spending time together, learning through the year.
A Ride On Toy:
Last year my daughter recevied the John Deere ride on Gator. While I wasn’t super keen on her getting a ride on toy, it’s turned into one of her most prized possessions. She not only rides it around the yard, but she helps with gardening, and cleaning up the yard. It’s great that she has a way to feel helpful, and it’s great that now she drives weeds to the burn pile instead of me having to push them over in the wheel barrow.
A savings account:
This may not seem like a real gift, but what better way to begin preparing your child for the real world, than to get them started understanding money and how it works. Getting kids started working with and saving money from a young age will help them throughout their entire adult life. It will be a skill that will serve them well.
Books:
This isn’t that unique, but it is certainly a great gift. You can always make it unique by setting up a treasure hunt, and each book that is found gives a clue to the next one. You could also set them up with a book of the month club or something similar, so each month they get a new book to read.
Magazines:
Since my daughter was really young we’ve gotten her magazines. There are quite a few wonderful magazines for young children and preschool age children. They feature animals and other intersting subjects to keep your child interested. It’s a great way to get your kids engaged in reading. The best part is they come through the mail. I can gaurantee your kiddo will end up waiting by the mail box for their magazines to get there. In a day and age when snail mail is dying what a great way for your child to receive some actual mail.
So there you have some ideas for unique gifts for your young child. Why not step out of the box and not give them a video game, or another Barbie? A John Deere ride on Gator, or a zoo membership are gifts that will last more than a day or a week, but will keep them learning and growing for months or even years to come.
